Welcome!
Now...you are wondering why you are here when you were looking for the Whippoorwill Crafts web site. Obviously, this is not it. You're right.

After nearly 30 years I retired and closed Whippoorwill Crafts in January 2009. I have now taken down the web site as well. BUT...all is not lost. I would like to help you find what you are looking for. Many of my craft retail friends across the country carry the products on their web sites that you used to buy on mine. They are terrific people and great stores. Below I have listed links to these. If what you are looking for is not listed I will try to help you locate a store or the artist. If you have a question or a problem, call me. Karen Hohler, 617-571-5267.

Thanks for many years of fun and the privilege to represent and promote some terrific artists from all across the country. Your support made that possible. In these trying economic times I would beg you not to forget a truly American institution, the American artisan. Support their creativity and artistry by seeking out American handmade. Find a store near you. Go to craft fairs. Go to Open Studios. Keep the American craft movement alive.

If this sounds like a worthy cause to you, follow this link to the 3.50 Project. This project asks you to think about the 3 stores that you would hate to see go out of business and support them every month. It asks you to take $50 you might spend throughout the month and concentrate that spending on these 3 stores. Keep them alive. If you support a store that is a national chain and carries imports, $43 out of every $100 you spend will stay in your community. If you support a local entrepreneur who has one or two local stores, $68 of your $100 will stay in your community. If you support a local store selling American made crafts that ripples out to almost all of the money staying in this country. You could be a one person recession recovery machine! Here's the link. Please consider pledging. http://www.the350project.com/
